What is an exemplary program?

An exemplary program is one that can increase learning to a surprising extent with a great deal of consistency.

Last year, we began offering an Evening Drawing Series – three 6-week afterschool skills-based series on drawing, drawing with color, and painting.

Current offerings:

  • School vacation week programming –full-day vacation week programming during the Winter Break, and February and April vacations.

  • Summer programming – 4 weeks of full-day programming. Despite the expansion, we are already at full capacity.

  • Drop-in Saturday Studios – for 2 hours on Saturday mornings, students can drop-in for art-making activities of their choice.

IMPORTANT COMMUNITY NOTICE: WE WILL BE CLOSED ON SATURDAYS FROM 04/13/24 - 06/01/24 FOR CLEANING & REPAIRS

Dot Art Case Study:

H. & N. (twin siblings) lived one street away from Dot Art’s Savin Hill location. They first began participating in Saturday Studios at the ages of five. They shared with neighbors their positive experience with Dot Art, other families in the immediate neighborhood joined, so there were several families participating in our programming. Families plan to join the vacation programming so their kids could attend the same weeks. H. & N.’s parents became Dot Art donors, and in 2018, H. & N.’s mother joined Dot Art’s board. She was instrumental in providing feedback on programming as a Dot Art parent and helped Dot Art strategically plan to meet the needs for the neighborhood and beyond. When they moved out of their home near the studio, the new owners heard about Dot Art from the neighbors on the street and sent their children to Dot Art’s Saturday Studios and Summer Vacation programming.

Testimonials from Dot Art Individuals & Families:

“Dot Art has made such an impact on my daughter’s ability to express herself creatively.”

“Dot Art has been a magical experience for my children. They love attending the annual summer camps, and I love to watch how their knowledge and understanding of the arts has expanded through museum field trips, visits from guest artists, and the many varied projects they undertake in the classroom. Dot Art has been a powerful force in our community for 25 years, and I'm so proud my children are a part of it.”

“Dot Art has been a tremendous influence in my children's experience with art giving them the tools and language to communicate and to speak about what they have created. My kids participated in Summer camps, Saturday Studies and workshops and classes at different times of their lives since they were three. My oldest child is now 21 and my youngest 11, all of them had the opportunity to have Dot. Art as part of their lives and we are to grateful that it is part of our community.
